At Outdoor Truths Ministries, we know that not everyone is able to join our Tuesday morning reviews live. That’s why we record each Truth recap and make it available for you to watch on your own time. These recordings ensure you never miss the insights, discussions, and takeaways shared each week. From time to time, we will also revisit and review a recent Truth to reinforce key lessons and encourage deeper reflection. Whether you’re catching up on a missed session, revisiting an important point, or sharing the conversation with others, you can stay connected and engaged as we continue exploring faith, the outdoors, and meaningful truth together.

August 18, 2026 – Edna’s
This lesson reminds us that some of life’s greatest influences come through the simplest acts of kindness, hospitality, and patience. Like the memories of Edna’s country store, we often don’t recognize the significance of someone’s generosity until years later. God can use ordinary moments and quiet gestures to leave an extraordinary mark on another person’s life. The challenge is to offer that same kindness to others today—even if they don’t recognize its value until much later.
August 11, 2026 – Dogs
This lesson reflects on the special place dogs hold in our lives and what their short lives can teach us about love, grace, purpose, and loss. Through Snatch’s story, we see how one of God’s creatures can become far more than a pet—bringing loyalty, comfort, acceptance, and unconditional affection into a family. Their lives may seem far too short, but perhaps that brevity gives us the opportunity to love more than once, even knowing grief will eventually come. Loving deeply carries the risk of hurting deeply, but the love received along the way makes the loss worth grieving.
August 4, 2026 – The Gray Area Part 4
The main focus of the meeting was Gary’s three-week sermon series on “the gray area” – discussing how Christians with different beliefs and denominations can maintain unity while respecting diversity. Gary read from Romans 14 and Acts 15, emphasizing that believers should accept each other’s different convictions, avoid condemning others, and put others first rather than focusing on rules that divide. He explained that Jesus prayed for unity in diversity so that the world would know God sent Jesus, and that mature Christians should defer to others’ convictions to maintain harmony in the church. The conversation ended with prayer requests including back-to-school concerns and a situation about a camper that burned down, followed by discussion about the importance of focusing on love rather than rules in Christian relationships.
July 28, 2026 – The Gray Area Part 3
This week’s discussion continued our series on the “gray areas” of the Christian life by looking at Romans 14 and what it means to live in unity despite our differences. Gary reminded us that while believers may have different convictions on secondary issues, we should never allow those differences to divide us. Instead of judging one another or trying to prove we’re right, we’re called to extend grace, be patient with those who are growing in their faith, and sometimes even set aside our own freedoms out of love for a fellow believer. Jesus prayed that His followers would be one so the world would know He was sent by the Father. When we choose love over arguments and unity over uniformity, we become a powerful witness of God’s grace to those watching from the outside.
This lesson reminds us that worship begins long before we arrive at a destination. Through the story of an elderly farmer rowing his handmade boat to church, we see how creation can prepare our hearts to encounter God. When we intentionally slow down and place ourselves in His creation, the sights and sounds around us become reminders of His glory, turning even the journey into an act of worship. Sometimes God speaks most clearly before we ever reach where we’re going.
July 21, 2026 – The Gray Area Part 2
July 14, 2026 –The Gray Area Part 1
This lesson reminds us that while God gives every believer clear biblical boundaries, He also allows room for personal convictions in areas where Scripture is not explicit. Just as hunters develop their own self-imposed standards beyond the legal requirements, Christians often have different convictions about secondary matters. The challenge is not to demand that others adopt our personal preferences but to pursue unity, grace, and mutual respect. When believers choose harmony over division, they reflect Christ’s love to a watching world.
July 7, 2026 – FIFA Love
This lesson reminds us that the most powerful witness for Christ is not found in winning arguments but in showing genuine love. As visitors from around the world experienced unexpected kindness and hospitality, their perceptions were changed not by words but by actions. In the same way, followers of Jesus are called to let love be their defining characteristic, demonstrating the heart of Christ in everyday interactions. A life marked by love has the power to overcome stereotypes, soften hearts, and point others to the goodness of God.
June 30, 2026 – Leaves or Fruit
This lesson challenges us to distinguish between the outward practices of faith and the inward transformation God desires. Church attendance, prayer, Bible study, and giving are essential, but they are the leaves—not the fruit. The true evidence of spiritual growth is a life increasingly marked by love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. A healthy relationship with Christ should produce visible fruit that nourishes others, not merely a leafy appearance that looks spiritual from a distance.
June 23, 2026 – Balanced Believers – Click for Summary
This lesson reminds us that effectiveness in sharing our faith comes through balance, not excess. Just as deer need the right mix of minerals, food, and water to thrive, people need the right blend of truth, grace, influence, and experience. Jesus called His followers to be salt and light—not overwhelming or harsh, but appealing and illuminating. Lasting impact often comes less from how much we say and more from how well we live, offering others just what they need to take their next step toward Christ.
June 16, 2026 – Life-Altering Moments – Click for Summary
This lesson highlights how God often uses ordinary people and seemingly insignificant moments to create life-changing transformation. A simple gift from two humble strangers led to a deeper understanding of God’s grace and freedom from the exhausting burden of trying to live the Christian life through personal effort. True spiritual growth comes not from striving harder, but from trusting Christ to live His life through us. Sometimes the smallest encounters become the turning points that shape the rest of our lives and ministries.
June 9, 2026 – Bloom Where Your Planted – Click for Summary
This lesson teaches that success and fruitfulness are not determined by having the perfect circumstances, the most resources, or the largest opportunities. Like a fisherman who learns one small section of the lake or a pine tree growing from solid rock, God calls us to faithfully thrive where He has placed us. When we stop focusing on where we wish we were and begin investing in where we are, God can accomplish far more than we imagined. With His help, obstacles become opportunities, and what seems impossible becomes a testimony of His faithfulness.
June 2, 2026 – It’s All About Me – Click for Summary
This lesson reminds us that God sometimes allows situations into our lives not to reveal our hearts to Him, but to reveal them to us. When God asks us to obey beyond what seems logical, comfortable, or financially wise, He is often performing a heart check—showing us whether our trust rests in His blessings or in Him alone. These moments are less about the circumstances and more about our faith, obedience, and where our true treasure lies.
May 26, 206 – My Blanket – Click for Summary
This lesson illustrates how God uses every piece of our lives—both the beautiful and the broken—to create something meaningful and comforting for others. Like a treasured quilt stitched together from worn and unrelated scraps, the experiences, wounds, memories, and seasons of our lives are all being woven together by God with purpose. What may seem insignificant or damaged to us is valuable in His hands, and nothing in our story is ever wasted.
May 19, 2026 – Plan B – Click for Summary
This lesson reminds us that life rarely unfolds according to our original plans. Just as the hunter’s carefully crafted strategy was interrupted and redirected, God often works through unexpected changes, delays, and detours to lead us where we truly need to be. Success is not found in perfectly executed plans, but in trusting God’s direction when Plan A falls apart and being willing to follow Him into a better Plan B.
May 12, 2026 – Watch or Worry – Click for Summary
This lesson teaches that peace comes when we have done all we can and trust God with the rest. Just like a hunter who makes the right setup and waits calmly for what happens next, we are called to stop living in anxiety over things beyond our control. Worry changes nothing, but faith reminds us that our circumstances are in God’s hands. Our responsibility is to seek first His kingdom and trust that He will handle what we cannot.
May 5, 2026 – The Unemployment Line – Click for Summary
This lesson reminds us that the Christian life is not difficult—it is impossible to live in our own strength. Just like pushing through a hard climb that should feel “easy,” many believers struggle under guilt from trying to be good enough on their own. Paul faced the same battle and discovered freedom by quitting—quitting the exhausting effort of trying to earn righteousness through performance. True peace comes when we stop striving and allow Christ to live through us, trusting His strength instead of our own.
April 28, 2026 – Patience – Click for Summary
This lesson uses a successful turkey hunt to reveal the power of patience—not just in the woods, but in life and relationships. Sometimes the best move is no move at all, trusting that the right opportunity will come in the right time. Just as patience brought the perfect shot, spiritual patience allows God to work in ways we can’t force. Since God is patient with us, He calls us to show that same grace to others—and through that patience, people often see Jesus most clearly.
April 21, 2026 – Adapt – Click for Summary
This lesson uses the adaptability of the wild turkey to challenge us to do more than just survive life’s changing seasons. While circumstances constantly shift, we have a choice—to complain and endure, or to adapt and enjoy. True stability doesn’t come from the world around us, but from the Spirit within us. As we grow in faith, our lives should be marked not by frustration, but by the fruit of the Spirit—allowing us to thrive, no matter where we’re planted.
April 7 & April 14, 2026 – The Pull & The Tug – Click for Summary
The Pull – This lesson uses the discipline of buzz bait fishing to reveal a powerful truth about faith. Just because something looks like a strike doesn’t mean it is—just like life’s circumstances can deceive us at first glance. Instead of reacting to what we see, we’re called to wait for God’s “tug”—His guidance, His voice, His timing. When we stop living by sight and start trusting Him, we’ll find that what once seemed like failure can turn into something worth holding onto.
The Tug – This lesson reflects on the deep longing we feel when life doesn’t quite satisfy—like being stuck waiting for a season that hasn’t opened yet. Just as creation instinctively moves toward what it was made for, our hearts ache for something beyond this world. That longing isn’t misplaced—it’s a clue. Earthly experiences were never meant to fully satisfy us, but to point us toward something greater. When this world feels foreign, it’s a reminder that our true home isn’t here—it’s found in Christ and the people who belong to Him.

March 24, 2026 – Keep Coming Back – Click for Summary
This lesson reminds us that failure isn’t the exception—it’s the norm, both in sports and in life. Just like athletes return after missed shots and bad days, the disciples continually came back to Jesus despite their mistakes. Faith isn’t about getting it right every time; it’s about not walking away. No matter how many times we fall short, God invites us to keep showing up, keep trusting, and keep coming back—because there’s nowhere else we’d rather be.
March 17, 2026 – Eighteen Hundred – Click for Summary
This lesson reflects on how life often feels filled with disappointment, setbacks, and “bad news,” much like an unsuccessful hunting season. Yet, just as the gospel story doesn’t end with the crucifixion on Friday, our lives are not meant to end in defeat. Through the powerful reminder of “Eighteen Hundred,” we learn to keep our focus on the hope and victory found in Christ. No matter how much bad news surrounds us, the story isn’t over—Sunday is coming, and the good news always has the final word.
March 10, 2026 – Mono-Tasking – Click for Summary
This lesson reflects on the challenge of juggling many tasks in life while remembering that the Christian life ultimately comes down to one simple mission. Just as hunting seasons overlap and require attention to many details, faith can feel filled with endless responsibilities. But Jesus reduced it all to one thing—love. When we focus on loving God and loving others, everything else falls into place. Love becomes the one task that guides every other action.

Februay 24, 2026 – Fertilizer – Click for Summary
This lesson draws from life on the farm to reveal a powerful spiritual truth: nothing is wasted. What looks useless—even messy—to us can become the very thing that produces consistent growth. Just as a farmer understands that waste is actually fertilizer, God uses every experience, failure, and hardship to cultivate lasting fruit in our lives. What you see as worthless, God sees as preparation. He wastes nothing—and He uses everything.
February 17, 2026 – Sleeping Sounds – Click for Summary
This lesson reflects on the comfort of familiar sounds while traveling and how consistency brings rest—even in unfamiliar places. But beyond soothing background noise lies a deeper truth: the real storms we face are internal. While a recorded thunderstorm may help us fall asleep, only God’s promises can calm the anxiety, worry, and fear that rage within. True peace doesn’t come from what surrounds us, but from trusting the One who steadies our minds and guards our hearts.
Febraury 10, 2026 – Changes – Click for Summary
This lighthearted but insightful lesson uses the metaphor of an aging truck to explore how our minds, emotions, and responses shift as we get older. Though we may look the same on the outside, our inner workings—our “physiology”—change through life’s experiences, environments, and challenges. These changes are part of growing, maturing, and adapting. And while we may laugh at our new quirks (like “selective crowd phobia”), it’s a reminder to offer ourselves grace, recognize where we’ve grown, and stay tuned in to how God continues to shape us through every season.
February 3, 2026 – A Buck Knife – Click for Summary
This lesson highlights the powerful influence we have on those watching us—especially the next generation—when we live unashamed of our faith. A simple message in a knife box from a company that honored God left a lasting impression on a young man and shaped his understanding of success, integrity, and purpose. When we acknowledge God as our “Senior Partner” in all we do, our actions, words, and even the smallest gestures can reflect His grace and leave an eternal impact.
January 27, 2026 – The Real Purpose – Click for Summary
This lesson reminds us that creation isn’t just a backdrop for our lives—it’s a divine invitation to hear from the Creator. When we intentionally step into nature with the purpose of listening for God’s voice, we align our purpose with His presence. Whether in the woods or on the water, the question becomes: What is God trying to say to me here? Learning to listen through His creation renews our spirit and gives clarity for the world we return to.
January 20, 2025 – A Priceless Exchange
Just like in a bass tournament where anglers replace good fish with better ones, life often requires us to trade what’s good for what’s best. This lesson challenges us to evaluate what we’re holding onto and whether it’s keeping us from something of greater value. Growth and maturity come through letting go—sometimes even of valuable things—to make space for God’s greater purpose. The reward may not come instantly, but at life’s “weigh-in,” the sacrifice will be worth it.
January 13, 2026 – Unwanted Exposure – Click for Summary
Just like the winter woods reveal what’s normally hidden, our exposed seasons—when life feels stripped down—offer unique clarity. This lesson reminds us that even in times when we feel bare, broken, or exposed, God is still at work. These quiet, uncovered moments are often when we can best see His direction and prepare for new growth. The absence of noise and pressure allows for reflection, learning, and ultimately, a return to thriving.
January 6, 2026 – Different Reactions – Click for Summary
This lesson reflects on how deer responded uniquely to a perceived threat—based on experience, instinct, and perspective—and how much we as humans can learn from that. Just like the bucks in the field, people react differently to the same situations. The challenge for us is not to judge, but to extend grace, understanding that everyone is shaped by a different story.

December 23, 2025 – New Starts – Click for Summary
This lesson reflects on the end of deer season as a symbol of reflection and renewal. Just as hunters make adjustments for the next season, we all look for fresh starts—because new beginnings fuel hope. Whether it’s a change in routine, a renewed commitment, or a spiritual reset, God is the author of new mercies and fresh starts. His daily grace reminds us that no matter how last season ended, there’s always hope for what’s ahead.
December 15, 2025 – What would Jesus Do? – Summary Notes!
This lesson uses the image of a father wading ahead of his child to show how God lovingly leads us through life’s unseen obstacles. While His path may seem longer or more difficult, it’s always safer and wiser—because He sees what we can’t. True peace and joy come not from understanding every step, but from trusting the One who walks ahead. Like a child, our role is simple: follow His footsteps, and know He will never lead us where He cannot keep us.
December 9, 2025 – Bummer Lambs Part 2 – Summary Notes
This is a continuation of Part 1. This lesson uses powerful imagery from nature to remind us that rejection doesn’t disqualify us—it draws us closer to the heart of the Good Shepherd. Just as a cast-out lamb learns the voice of the one who rescued it, those who have felt pushed aside in life can find comfort, identity, and lasting love in Jesus. He doesn’t overlook the broken—He runs to them, holds them close, and calls them His own.
December 2, 2025 – Bummer Lambs Part 1 – Summary Notes
This lesson uses powerful imagery from nature to remind us that rejection doesn’t disqualify us—it draws us closer to the heart of the Good Shepherd. Just as a cast-out lamb learns the voice of the one who rescued it, those who have felt pushed aside in life can find comfort, identity, and lasting love in Jesus. He doesn’t overlook the broken—He runs to them, holds them close, and calls them His own.
November 25, 2025 – Pretending
This lesson uses bow hunting preparation to show how visualizing truth can prepare us for spiritual battles. Just like a hunter rehearses the shot before the deer arrives, believers can rehearse God’s promises before the trials come. Pretending, in this sense, isn’t make-believe—it’s a faith-building practice that silences doubt and anchors us in what we already know to be true, even when we don’t feel it.
November 18, 2025 – All About the Motives
This Christmas, stay sensitive to the people who never expect anything — the cashier, the server, the employee, the tired parent. You never know who needs a quiet reminder that they’re seen by God. Sometimes the best gifts are the simple ones slipped into a hand with no explanation and no spotlight. Just listen for the nudge… and follow it. The kind of giving that surprises someone is often the closest thing to the heart of Jesus. It’s all about the motive.
November 11, 2025 – Better or Best
This lesson draws from a hunter’s real-time struggle to choose between a good opportunity and the possibility of something greater. It’s a powerful reminder that life is full of similar choices. While it’s tempting to settle for what’s safe and visible, faith often requires us to wait, trust, and believe that God’s best is worth holding out for—even when we can’t see it yet. Don’t trade the better promise for the easier option.
This lesson connects a hunting moment of confusion with a deeper spiritual truth—when we forget where key moments happened, we can lose our way. Just as Old Testament believers built altars to remember encounters with God, we too need reminders of where and when God spoke to us. When doubt creeps in, returning to those “altars” can renew our faith and bring clarity to our path. Sometimes, the key to moving forward is simply remembering where God first met us.
October 28, 2025 – Stay Put
This lesson reflects on the early hunting habit of moving too soon—driven by impatience and unmet expectations. Like leaving a tree stand right before the deer arrives, we often abandon places or plans just before the breakthrough. But Scripture reminds us that tribulation builds perseverance, and perseverance leads to maturity. Sometimes the greatest reward comes not from moving, but from staying. Trust the process. Stay where God placed you. The fruit may be just moments away.
October 21, 2025 – You’re First
This lesson reflects on a cherished hunting memory between father and son to reveal a deeper spiritual truth—our Heavenly Father loves us even more than we can love our own children. Just as a father would sacrifice his own success to give his child the best opportunity, God places us where He knows the reward will come. Even when we feel empty-handed, we can trust His heart, because He always wants what’s best for His children.
October 14, 2025 – Borrowed Faith
This lesson reminds us that in seasons when our faith feels broken, worn out, or missing entirely, it’s okay to lean on the faith of others. Just as we borrow gear for a hunt, we can borrow trust from friends who still believe when we can’t. God honors honest hearts—and even more, He responds to the faith of the community carrying us to Him. When your strength is gone and your prayers are dry, remember: borrowed faith still moves mountains.
October 7, 2025 – The Smell
As deer season opens, this lesson isn’t just about chasing bucks—it’s about chasing stillness, trust, and the comforting scent of home. Whether it’s the woods, the earth, or the memories tied to smell, God often uses creation to call us back to Himself. In a world of noise and uncertainty, sometimes we just need to return to the dirt we came from—to be reminded that we are known, loved, and not alone. Maybe it’s time for all of us to go home.
September 30, 2025 – Predetermined
This lesson is a humble reflection on a life shaped more by God’s grace and the kindness of others than by personal achievement. It reminds us that many of our blessings—opportunities, health, privilege—are unearned gifts, not the result of our own greatness. In a world where much is predetermined and unfair, Jesus calls us to compassion, not comparison. Our success isn’t for self-glory, but to extend mercy to those who carry burdens they never chose.
September 23, 2025 – The Steadied Mind
This lesson reflects on the shift from early-season hunting hype to wisdom guided by experience—and connects it to our spiritual lives. Just as data now guides better hunting decisions than emotion-driven urgency, anchoring our hearts in God’s truth keeps us steady through emotional ups and downs. When we trust what is unchanging—God’s character and promises—our thoughts and emotions fall into alignment, and we stop chasing feelings and start walking by faith.
September 16, 2025 – The Cost of Living
“The Faith Funnel: Choosing the Harder Path for a Greater Purpose”
This lesson uses the hunting concept of a funnel—an easy, predictable path—as a metaphor for the spiritual temptation to always choose what’s easy. While grace brings freedom, following Christ often requires sacrifice. True discipleship may call us to surrender comfort, rights, or even deeply held desires—not for applause, but so others might see Jesus more clearly. It’s not just about what we’re willing to die for, but what we’re willing to live without for the sake of the gospel.
September 9, 2025 – The Fragile Part
“It’s Not About the Deer: Valuing People Over the Hunt”
This lesson draws from a powerful story about bourbon and family to challenge how we view hunting—and life. As deer season begins, it reminds us that the most fragile and valuable part of any pursuit isn’t the game we chase, but the people we share it with. Whether it’s mentoring a new hunter or spending time with those we love, the real legacy we leave is in the lives we touch, not the trophies we take.
September 2, 2025 – True Colors
This lesson uses the beauty of fall foliage to illustrate a deeper truth—just as trees reveal their unique colors when the abundance of summer fades, our true character often emerges in seasons of lack and pressure. God sometimes allows these moments not to test our worth, but to show us what’s really in our hearts. And just like autumn, these seasons are temporary, preparing us for new growth and deeper trust in the One who provides in every season.
August 26, 2025 – The Climb
This lesson reflects on the physical and spiritual impact of early morning bike rides—grueling climbs that become sacred spaces for hearing God. Just as quiet and focus help us navigate tough terrain, tuning our hearts to God’s Word and creation clears our perspective for life’s challenges. When we climb with Him, we often find that the rest of the day feels like a downhill coast—fueled by the clarity and peace gained in His presence.
August 19, 2025 – Sleeping in the Storm
This lesson draws from the flurry of deer season prep and a powerful story of a calm farmhand to remind us of a deeper truth: while preparation brings peace, ultimate rest comes from knowing Who is in control. We can ready ourselves for life’s storms, but true calm comes from trusting the One who never panics—because He’s already secured every detail, even before the wind begins to blow.
August 12, 2025 – Leading With a Limp
This lesson reflects on a painful hunting trip that became a picture of leadership marked by weakness, not disqualified by it. Like Paul, true leaders often limp—not because they’ve failed, but because their pain keeps them humble, dependent, and compassionate. Limping reminds us that our strength comes from God, not ourselves. In fact, the limp may be the very thing that qualifies us to lead with grace, patience, and authenticity.
August 5, 2025 – Pursuing Pain
This lesson begins in a tree stand, where the shift from discomfort to comfort changed the hunting experience—but also sparked a deeper reflection. While physical comfort has its place, the pursuit of comfort in life can dull our growth. Pain, both physical and spiritual, is not just something to endure—it’s something God uses. It strengthens us, draws us to His comfort, and equips us to comfort others. In a world chasing ease, this lesson reminds us that pain has purpose, and sometimes the greatest ministry comes from what hurts the most.
July 29, 2025 – My University
This lesson reflects on the return to a familiar piece of land—not just as a hunting spot, but as sacred ground where life lessons were learned and a calling was formed. Through memories of bulls, barns, and bushhogs, we’re reminded that God uses places, seasons, and even struggles as His school to shape us for purpose. Your story may look different, but the truth is the same: God wastes nothing and uses everything to mold your ministry and message.
July 22, 2025 – Sowing, Reaping, Waiting
This lesson uses the sweaty, slow grind of summer bow prep to highlight a powerful spiritual truth: we rarely reap in the same season we sow. Just like hunting or farming, spiritual growth requires effort, patience, and most of all—trust during the in-between. The waiting season isn’t wasted; it’s when God does His part. Our job is to stay faithful in the heat, knowing the harvest is coming in His time, not ours.
July 15, 2025 – A Nascar Moment continued
“Old Traditions, New Gear: Gratitude in a Modern Hunter’s World” – This lighthearted lesson humorously contrasts the simplicity of our forefathers’ hunting with today’s gear-heavy experience. But beneath the brand names and gadgets is a deeper appreciation—for the people, the freedom, and the God who makes it all possible. It’s a reminder that even with all our modern tools, the heart of the hunt is still rooted in gratitude, tradition, and the joy of the outdoors.
July 8, 2025 – A Nascar Moment
“Old Traditions, New Gear: Gratitude in a Modern Hunter’s World” – This lighthearted lesson humorously contrasts the simplicity of our forefathers’ hunting with today’s gear-heavy experience. But beneath the brand names and gadgets is a deeper appreciation—for the people, the freedom, and the God who makes it all possible. It’s a reminder that even with all our modern tools, the heart of the hunt is still rooted in gratitude, tradition, and the joy of the outdoors.
July 1, 2025 – Identity
“Not Just a License: Knowing Who You Are, Not Just Who You Appear to Be” – This lesson highlights the difference between identification and identity. A hunting license can tell others your name and stats, but it can’t tell them who you truly are—and more importantly, it can’t tell you. True identity doesn’t come from what the world sees or says, but from what God declares about you. You are chosen, redeemed, empowered, and complete in Christ. Don’t let others define you—let your Creator remind you who you really are.
June 24, 2025 – “Moments That Matter: Becoming a Memory Worth Keeping” – This lesson begins with the thrill of a summer bass strike at sunrise but quickly shifts to something deeper—those rare, life-shaping moments that leave a lasting imprint on our hearts. While some experiences belong in a folder labeled “unforgettable,” the most meaningful ones are the words, lessons, and actions that shape who we become. And just as others have marked us with those moments, we’re reminded that someone else may need us to be theirs. Make your life a memory worth remembering.
June 17, 2025 – “From Pond to River: When God Uses Tests to Reveal Readiness” – This lesson uses a first fishing trip with a grandson to illustrate a powerful truth: tests aren’t meant to label us as failures—they show us where we are in our growth. Just as the pond prepares a child for the river, our spiritual lessons prepare us for greater challenges. When difficulties arise, it may not be punishment or failure—it may simply be a test. And sometimes, failing the test is the best way to see what still needs to grow before facing the real thing.
June 10, 2025 – “You Don’t Have to Be a Pro—Just a Witness” – This lesson reminds us that God isn’t looking for professionals—He’s looking for willing witnesses. Like the early disciples, we may feel unqualified or exposed when asked to speak up, but Jesus never called us to be experts. He called us to wait for His Spirit and then go. The power doesn’t come from polished words or perfect lives, but from the Holy Spirit working through ordinary people with a story to tell. Silence is not an option—because your witness matters.
June 3, 2025 – “From Strutting to Surrender: Growing Through the Misses and Messes” – This lesson uses the unpredictable highs and lows of turkey season to reflect on the spiritual journey from youth to maturity. Just like older toms grow wiser with experience, we, too, learn to live more purposefully as we discover who we were created to be. Even our missteps and gullible moments aren’t wasted—God has already made provision for them. Our scars and limps tell the story of a God who redeems, refines, and uses the wounded for His glory.
May 27, 2025 – “Worry-Free in the Wild: Learning to Trust Like God’s Creatures” – This lesson takes us into the stillness of the woods to reveal a world in motion—where every creature works, rests, and trusts without worry. Unlike us, animals live with confidence in God’s provision. Through their example and the truth of Scripture, we’re reminded that if God faithfully cares for the birds and wildflowers, He will surely care for us. It’s a call to trade stress for trust and live with the peace only faith can bring.
May 20, 2025 – “Fishing by Sight vs. Living by Faith” – This lesson draws a powerful contrast between modern sight fishing and the life of faith God calls us to. While technology allows fishermen to rely on what they see, faith requires trusting in what God says—even when nothing is visible. True faith listens more than it looks, prays more than it plans, and moves forward based on God’s Word, not just human certainty.
May 13, 2025 – “Faith Over Comfort: Asking God for the Hill” – This lesson challenges us to resist the pull of comfort and security as we age and instead pursue a bold, active faith like Caleb’s. Even at 85, Caleb asked for the toughest territory, trusting God to empower him. Whether in our physical pursuits or spiritual walk, we’re reminded that faith doesn’t retire—it climbs. Ask God for a hill, and don’t settle for a life that plays it safe.
May 6, 2025 – “The Other Side of the Hill: Trusting When Plans Fall Short” – This lesson uses the familiar frustration of turkey hunting to highlight a deeper truth: even our best-laid plans don’t always unfold the way we envision. Just as a gobbler may stay just out of sight, life’s outcomes often seem so close—yet just out of reach. But when plans fail, faith must rise. God sees what we can’t. He knows the full picture, including what’s just over the hill, and His guidance is better than our predictions. Trust Him, even when your plan doesn’t go as planned.
April 29, 2025 – “A Front-Row Seat: When God Changes the Plan for Something Better” – This lesson reminds us that sometimes success doesn’t come the way we expect. A morning that began with hunting turned into a moment of wonder—wild turkeys strutting under a rainbow, captured not with a gun, but a camera. When plans shift, and outcomes differ, God may be offering something richer than our original goal. It’s a call to trust His timing, embrace the unexpected, and recognize His hand in every detail—even when the cows ruin the hunt.
April 22, 2025 – “The Real Prize: Trading Trophies for Closeness” – This lesson reflects on how both hunting and the Christian life evolve over time—from chasing big trophies to valuing closeness and connection. Just as a hunter matures from measuring success by antler size to how near they can get, a believer grows from seeking recognition to seeking intimacy with God. Sometimes, to get closer, we must let go of the things we once thought we couldn’t live without. Because the real reward isn’t the prize on the wall—it’s the presence we draw near to.
