Turkey Hunt Circle Event April 30-May 3, 2026

Our second year at the McGinnis River Ranch was another unforgettable event. Rain hindered some hunting but we made it up in other ways. And even when we did hunt, the afternoons and evenings were always open to cornhole and fishing. Dan and Jonathon killed toms before everyone arrived. And then it got tough. No more to be had. But again, no one was complaining. Hunting has variables out of our control, but everything else went just as planned. The food was tremendous. And not only did we have a big Friday night crawfish boil, but we saved a few dads to add to the cornbread on Saturday. And the smoked ribs were perfect. We added two new guys on this trip. Dustin and Jesse. And I enjoyed getting to spend a little time finding out about their stories. They were Buck’s friends. And now they’re everyone’s who attended. That is one of the special things about Circle Events. Many of the guys have made life-long friends with guys that had never known before an event like this.

Casey was a great host. Not only by planning meals and hunting opportunities, but also by opening up his families’ ranch for and Outdoor Truths event. Casey’s dad is known for helping men grow in their faith. And Casey is following in his footsteps. And my man Dan! Dan was a huge help to Casey, John, me, and whoever needed help. His gift is serving.

We did get in some competitive cornhole games. Everybody knows I like doing that. Just about every man loves competition. John and I even had a side bet on who would catch the biggest fish. It’s all part of these events.

As always, I taught twice. But the side conversations during this trip were as helpful and meaningful as anything that I could say. That’s why we call them Circle Events. Circles and better than rows.
