This may have been our last Circle Event turkey hunt at the Davis Ranch. If so, it was a good one. First of all, why might it be the last one? Because after 19 years, John is selling the ranch. It’s been a blessing to so many people AND to Outdoor Truths. The memories will be many and fond. This last event will undoubtedly be marked by CRAWFISH! John put together two crawfish boils during our weekend. (pictures to follow) We stood over the table and crammed in crawfish and all the extras, until every morsel was gone. Man! what a way to go out!

The turkey hunting was tough, but our newest attender Rory, hunted hard and ended up doubling on the last day. He and Chase chased birds (pardon the pun) morning and afternoon until they finally pulled it off. Chase took the best guide reigns from Ray on this trip. But we’re gonna have to give Ray a pass because he was not only guiding turkey hunts for Rick and Kirk, but he was also guiding some midday fishing as well. (Kirk did more fishing than anything.) Along with Rory, this was Rick’s first time at an event. I appreciate his spiritual input during our lessons. You could tell he had some serious Bible knowledge.

Joe did what Joe always does, and that is anything needed – PLUS clean and cook and create some of the best desserts that one will ever enjoy at ANY event. I’m also glad Kenny was back. He’s becoming a staple at these events. I tried to guide him to a gobbler, but I failed. Bummer. But we had some long hikes and great conversation. And as a consolation, he won the $500.00 gift card!!  Geoff also showed up on Friday to join in the first boil but had to leave early. He’s on my board and I think he used that as an excuse to show up and join the Thursday night boil. LOL! All in all, it was another great event. I taught on trust – putting our trust in God and not in all the other things that fall under God’s care, authority, and rule. I think we all grew a little bit in our faith.
