Our Gene’s Dove Hunt Event was held in Texas, in September 19-22, 2024.

Another Circle Event is in the books.

This event is slowly growing into a must-attend Circle Event. I think we have found a lodging home at the Circle 4B Ranch. The accommodations were great. And we’ll be working on getting them even better. The dove field that Jason prepared provided about 70 birds for the two days. The sky was full of doves on day one, and we struggled to get only few down on day two. That’s the way hunting goes. But it was so much fun. It was great to welcome some newcomers to our Circle Events. Jim, Dillon, and Travis all made the trip from Mississippi and Louisiana. And Blake came from only a couple of hours away in Weatherford Texas. Each of these guys brought lots of experience in the hunting world. Some were big duck hunters, and the stories that Jim shared (and showed) about his big deer adventures still have me in awe.

Jason (our host) and Dan (Jason’s and my friend, and future co-host) cooked like kings – especially closing the last dinner with fried dove and Dan’s biscuits and gravy!  Dan was also the winner of our $500.00 gift card. Brent has become a standard of these events. He and Chase have sort of become two of my go-to guys for lots of things. Their youth inspires me.

I wanted to focus my lessons on trying to convey how God uses flawed people. He always has. From the disfunction that God allowed Mary to have at the birth of Jesus, to David’s mighty men who believed their purpose was bigger than their problems. While men are good at putting others first, sometimes we see our selves as flawed beyond use. But God never sees us this way.

I believe next year’s event will be monumental considering how we are going to change a few things. I hope you will plan on being one of the twelve.
