Outdoor Truths: Here for Men

Some of the greatest ministries in the world serve veterans, kids, the handicapped, or the homeless — and they’re doing incredible work.

But there’s another group that often gets overlooked: the everyday man.

We assume he’s fine. But he’s not always fine. He’s got his own struggles — fears, doubts, failures — but most of the time he pushes them to the back burner for everyone else. For his wife. His kids. His job. His church.

Why Men Matter

  • Less than 10% of churches have an active men’s ministry.
  • Over 70% of men say they have no close friends they can talk to about personal struggles.
  • One in five men say they never attend church — not because they don’t believe, but because they feel disconnected or judged.
  • Four out of five suicides are men.
  • Men are 3 times more likely to be homeless or addicted and 12 times as likely to be incarcerated than women.
  • Even among Christian men, most say faith feels like a private struggle, not a shared journey.
  • And one more thing: George Barna once found that once a man turns nineteen, he only has about a six-percent chance of ever coming to Christ.

Men aren’t fine. They’re forgotten. That’s a quiet crisis — and it’s why we do what we do.

What We See

A lot of men we meet aren’t down and out. They’ve got good jobs, nice homes, and drive new trucks. From the outside, they look solid.

But inside, many are exhausted, lonely, and carrying things nobody sees. And sometimes what they carry is messy. And we minister in their mess.

Tim Keller once said, “People are messy; therefore, relationships will be messy. Don’t be surprised by messiness.” That statement fits us perfectly.

What We Believe

We believe God hasn’t forgotten about these men — and we’re thankful He’s given us a ministry designed for them.

Why are we telling you this? To let you know that we haven’t forgotten about the everyday man — and we never will. He is the purpose for our call.
