Our 2024 Hog Hunt Circle Event is in the books. It was COLD! But the guys braved the weather for the opportunity to eliminate another bothersome boar from the Davis Ranch. Three pigs were down, but one wasn’t found. Joe Basham led it off early on Friday evening. He was back in the warm house before dark. We’ve been waiting for Joe to connect for a few years. This weekend was his time. Robert Taylor (one of our two new guys) got to use his pistol on one. And after our lesson, Robert won the $500.00 Bass Pro Gift Card!! Kenny Davis also shot a pig but was unable to find it before it ran to the neighbor’s ranch. I always love seeing Kenny. He drove from 4 hours away. All in all, the pigs were moving. What we all enjoyed however were the meals. John Davis was our host, and his venison spaghetti was delicious, and a first for me. I think this dish needs to start being a staple whenever he hosts. Joe is our dessert expert. We chased spaghetti with Joe’s Raisin Rum Cake and on Saturday night it was his Cherry Cobbler. We all went home weighing more than when we arrived. Ken Watson has been to these events before, but it was great to see him again. He and his wife Lori were sponsors of this event. I’m so thankful for them. Geoff Lawrence is on my board and if you haven’t been around him, you will NEVER forget your first experience. Every man there will know what I mean. His mind is like Star Trek. It goes where no man has gone before. LOL. He is definitely the life of the party. It was Connor Taylor’s first time at an event as well. Although he didn’t get a hog, I think we’ll get him back for another try. We had such good conversations. As for me, (Gary) I was thankful to be able to share some scripture on Saturday. I talked about being disappointed with God. I think that’s something that many of us don’t like admitting when it happens. But that’s why we have Circle Event – to talk about things we normally don’t talk about at other places.

Our next Circle Event at the Davis Ranch is our Turkey Hunt. We’ve added a day. This year it will be May 2-5. The cost is $350.00. Watch for sign-ups this week.
